The Chicago Tribune reports on plans to create an historic site of Billy Carter’s gas station.

In the age of the $787 billion stimulus package, it is, perhaps, a modest question:

Should American taxpayers foot the bill to enshrine the gas station run by the late Billy Carter — the beer-swilling, wisecracking, self-professed redneck brother of the 39th president?

Located in tiny Plains, still the world’s most famous peanut town some 28 years after the Carter presidency, the station was transformed into a museum last year by a civic group that owns the property.

Its claim to historical significance came during Jimmy Carter’s 1976 presidential run, when reporters mobbed Plains and transformed the station into an unofficial headquarters.

hillbuzz.org reports:
“This is a fundraiser’s nightmare: the FEC has ruled that Club for Growth can indeed contact all of Arlen Specter’s donors since 2004, who gave him upwards of $11 million, to inform them they are all entitled to a refund of campaign donations now that Specter has switched parties and become a Democrat. Specter so far has been forced to return about $500,000 — but many people who gave to him don’t know they can ask for their money back now that he’s switched parties.”

The UK’s DailyMail reports the following story that gives USA citizens a timely peek at the wonderful attributes of free government run health care:

After weeks of excruciating pain, Mark Wattson was understandably relieved to have his appendix taken out

Note that he had to endure weeks of excruciating pain in the jolly queue awaiting his turn for surgery.

Doctors told him the operation was a success and he was sent home.

But only a month later the 35-year-old collapsed in agony and had to be taken back to Great Western Hospital in Swindon by ambulance.

To his shock, surgeons from the same team told him that not only was his appendix still inside him, but it had ruptured – a potentially fatal complication.

Do these things grow back? How long does it take?

In a second operation it was finally removed, leaving Mr Wattson fearing another organ might have been taken out during the first procedure.

What side is my spleen supposed to be on? How about my liver?

The blunder has left Mr Wattson jobless, as bosses at the shop where he worked did not believe his story and sacked him.

He must have worked for foreigners with their own private health insurance! Hey, but he is ok! He still has his free health care!

Mr Wattson told of the moment he realised there had been a serious mistake.

‘I thought, “What the hell did they slice me open for in the first place?”

Following the second operation his incision became infected and he was admitted to hospital for a third time for treatment.

Never mind, he’s screwed. No employer would believe the third time

A spokesman for Great Western Hospital confirmed that a representative had met Mr Wattson and that an investigation had been started.

A great condescension! They actually agreed to meet with the man, and he is not even a lord or a government official!

He was unable to confirm what, if anything, was removed in the first operation.

We are searching the spare parts room from stem to stern but this may take some time.

Paul Gearing, deputy general manager for general surgery at Great Western Hospital NHS Trust, said: ‘We are unable to comment on individual cases.

The National Health Service “Cover thy national arse” Policy

‘However, we would like to apologise if Mr Wattson felt dissatisfied with the care he received at Great Western Hospital.’

Apologize? If he felt dissatisfied?? Laughing! I am sure Mr Wattson is a patriot of the first order and reluctant to complain. They might send him to Canada for his next operation!

Yes, We have problems within our US health care system, but for goodness sake lets fix them not magnify them! Come on America! Wake up and smell the bull crap!

Main stream media redux

Posted by: YothemittyTham | Comments (0)

WARNING TO LIBERALS AND TROLLS: THIS IS NOT A TRUE STORY! IT IS A JOKE THAT IS CONSTRUCTED TO MAKE A POINT AND THEREBY ALLUDE TO A GREATER TRUTH. IN THIS CASE IT MOCKS THE LIBERAL, ANTI-AMERICAN BIAS OF THE MAIN STREAM MEDIA. TECHNICALLY IT IS A PARABLE. WE KNOW… THREE SYLLABLES IS NOT FAIR. BUT WE ASK YOU TO BEAR WITH US AND LOOK IT UP.
THANK YOU. (For lazy libs this is from dictionary.com: Parable: a short allegorical story designed to illustrate or teach some truth, religious principle, or moral lesson.)

A Harley rider passing the zoo, noticed a small girl leaning into the lion’s cage. Suddenly, the lion grabbed the cuff of her jacket and tried to pull her inside to maul her, under the eyes of her horrified parents.

The biker ditched his bike and ran towards the cage. He delivered a powerful punch square on the lion’s nose. The lion jumped back roaring in pain, forgetting about his prey. The biker quickly took the girl in his arms and handed her over to her grateful parents.

A New York Times reporter witnessed the entire scene. He approached the biker “That was the bravest thing I have ever seen”

The biker replied: “It was nothing really, the lion was behind bars. I just saw this little kid in danger and acted”

The reporter pressed on: ‘Well, I’m a journalist from the New York Times, and tomorrow’s paper will have this story on the front page…So, tell me a little about yourself.

The biker replied: “I’m a U.S. Marine I come from Texas, I am married with one daughter and I usually vote Republican.”

The next morning the biker picked up a copy of the NYT to see if the reporter was for real. There on the first page:

“U. S. MARINE ASSAULTS AFRICAN IMMIGRANT AND STEALS HIS LUNCH”

NOTE TO CONSERVATIVES. WE KNOW THIS IS TOO TRUE TO BE FUNNY. THANKS FOR READING IT AND UNDERSTANDING.

politicalmavens.com published the following article By New York Post columnist, Arnold Ahlert entitled “Liars, Buyers and Frauds, Oh My!”. In the article, the author points out how difficult it is to maintain consistency and credibility when one is pedaling total BS.

It’s hard to keep up with the stupidity, hypocrisy and lying that emerges from Democratic swamps, but let’s try:

At a “town hall” meeting in New Hampshire on Tuesday–italicized to express precisely what liberal media types Helen Thomas and CBS’s Chip Reid referred to as “orchestrated,” and “tightly-controlled”–Barack Obama once again revealed how truly clueless he is.

When asked if he thought private insurance could be maintained when forced to compete with government-subsidized policies, he used this analogy: “If you think about it, UPS and Fed Ex are doing fine. It’s the Post Office that’s always having problems.”

In other words, two PRIVATE SECTOR, PROFIT MAKING mail delivery companies are doing a better job than the GOVERNMENT RUN, TAXPAYER-SUBSIDIZED Post Office–but America will be better off with government-insured healthcare than that administered by what Democrats call “evil” private sector insurance companies.

The Amateur-in-Chief strikes again.

–Democrats, including the inimitable Nancy Pelosi, have referred to grass-roots opposition to the healthcare bill as “astro-turf” demonstrations, implying that they’re either orchestrated or phony. Really? Then what would one call “Help Wanted” ads on Craigs Lists offering people $11-$16 dollars-an-hour to show up at these meetings in support of the administration’s agenda?

“Shills” or “paid plants” showing up at town hall meetings? What you get for the money. The breath-taking hypocrisy of Democrats? Priceless.

–In New York City, billionaire George Soros and the federal stimulus program are giving away $175 million to “needy kids” at a rate of $200 per child. Bronx resident Alecia Rumph put it best: “It’s free money!” she exclaimed. “Thank God for Obama. He’s always looking out for us.”

Ms. Rumph, Ms. Rumph. “Free money?” It isn’t free at all. It comes from taxpayer contributions to the federal coffers and a socialist billionaire, both willing to bankrupt America to buy people like you with “free money.” And just as a sidebar, where do you think George Soros made his fortune? In the public sector? Try the free enterprise system this administration is doing its best to run into the ground.

–Once again, in direct contradiction to the existing evidence of a 2003 unedited video, Barack Obama denied he was in favor of a single payer universal healthcare system. A direct quote from that video: “I happen to be a proponent of a single payer universal health care program.”

He also claimed to have the endorsement of the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP): “AARP would not be endorsing a bill if it was undermining Medicare, okay?”

AARPS’s response? “While the President was correct that AARP will not endorse a health care reform bill that would reduce Medicare benefits, indications that we have endorsed any of the major health care reform bills currently under consideration in Congress are inaccurate.”

What’s the politically incorrect term for “inaccurate?” Lying–period.

Finally, a question it would behoove anyone to ask this president, one which has stunningly eluded our intrepid media:

Mr. President, have YOU YOURSELF read the entire healthcare bill?

It is a big mistake to assume that all Americans are as naive, stupid and manipulable as the Obot Obama worshipers who put him in office.

JewishWorldReview.com published this article by Bob Tyrrell entitled “The Health Care Chaos”. In it the author points out the chaos that Mr. Obama has created through his complete lack of experience and qualifications for the job and asks “what else were we to expect?” He also addresses the “scare tactics” charge leveled against those opposed to this legislation:

Allow me a word of encouragement to our president. Mr. Obama, you are doing just fine. You wanted to set a new tone in Washington, and you have. You wanted an open debate on health care, and you have it. Admittedly, the tone is astoundingly rancorous, and not incidentally, your approval ratings continue to decline. Then, too, support for your health care reform is dropping, especially among independents. Yet I believe you can take heart. You have roused the interest of the American people in you, the Democratic Party, the Congress and health care. That is good news, at least for us conservatives. Again, you are doing fine. Ever-larger numbers of Americans are alarmed by you, your party, the Congress and your health care monstrosity. Mr. President, you are doing fine. Keep it up. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

Truth be known, what else were we to expect from the new administration? In the Senate, our president was the most left-wing member by a lot. That is a fact, clearly visible to those who followed his voting record. He was also the least experienced major-party presidential candidate in more than a century. As for his experience before he entered upon his brief political career, he never was in the private sector, where he might have gained knowledge about profit margins, the difficulty of maintaining a work force, or the burden of even a slight tax increase. His sole experience has been a fleeting period teaching law and the anomalous experience of being a community organizer, that is to say, a rabble-rouser who organizes needy people to pester governments and corporations for cash or services.

This campaign for health care reform has been an ongoing chaos. From all I have been able to tell, the Obama White House is a chaos, too. The other day, I heard of a highly placed White House staffer, with glittering credentials, who sits in a cubicle answering 300-400 urgent e-mails a day. That only reinforces the reports that this White House is nearing a state of “burnout.” The word circulating about the Democrats is that they are “desperate” over the state of the Obama health care plan. They have reason to be, and my guess is that things will get much worse. Democrats, what were you thinking of when you nominated the most left-wing and inexperienced candidate in the 2008 Democratic field?

Out on the campaign trail, where the Prophet Obama is thumping for health care reform, he should be very much at ease. Campaigning is the one aspect of politics he does well. But here, too, we see desperation. The other day, he accused his critics of engaging in “scare tactics.” He objects to their claim that the bill is exorbitant, though that claim is reinforced by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, which puts the price tag at more than $1 trillion. He says he will shave off $500 billion from that sum by cutting waste, fraud and abuse, though the CBO estimates the savings at only 1 percent of the trillion-dollar cost increase. He says his reforms will not fall heavily on the elderly or the disabled, though his own health care advisers have written that reforms should fall heavily on these groups. We can quote them. Call it scare tactics if you will.

Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel — who is the health-policy adviser at the White House Office of Management and Budget and a member of the Federal Coordinating Council for Comparative Effectiveness Research, as well as White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel’s brother — propounds discrimination against the elderly and other less-than-robust patients. In the medical journal The Lancet, he wrote in January: “Unlike allocation by sex or race, allocation by age is not invidious (an irrelevancy) discrimination; every person lives through different life stages rather than being a single age. Even if 25-year-olds receive priority over 65-year-olds, everyone who is 65 years now was previously 25 years.” As for the less-than-robust, in The Hastings Center Report, he has written that medical care should be withheld from those “who are irreversibly prevented from being or becoming participating citizens. … An obvious example is not guaranteeing health services to patients with dementia.” Thus, the state should decide when and whether you get treatment. Does that not have a grisly ring to it?

Dr. Emanuel veers from the grisly to the delightfully frivolous in his pontifications on cost cuts. Savor this one, from the Journal of the American Medical Association in May 2007: “Too much money spent on health care reduced the ability to obtain other essentials of human life as well as some goods and services not essential to life but still of great value, such as education, vacations, and the arts.” Yes, he said “vacations and the arts.” So once we have Obamacare and you are sitting around waiting for a hip replacement or a CT scan, remember that tax revenues are being better spent on vacations or perhaps the performance art of that lady who smothers chocolate on her naked body.

On second thought, she may be sitting nearby also awaiting a hip replacement. Remember, chocolate stains.

What have we done to ourselves? Any chance for a do-over before we have the entire world in chaos? We desperately need some Founding Father and Founding Mother caliber patriots to step forward and re-establish our constitution and the government bequeathed us.

In an article entitled: “Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) at a Glance” By: Dr. Sam Vaknin, (Author of “Malignant Self Love – Narcissism Revisited”) Dr. Vankin says the following about Narcissism:

Pathological narcissism is a life-long pattern of traits and behaviours which signify infatuation and obsession with one’s self to the exclusion of all others and the egotistic and ruthless pursuit of one’s gratification, dominance and ambition.

The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM, published by The American Psychiatric Association) specifies nine diagnostic criteria. Five (or more) of these criteria must be met for a diagnosis of Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) to be rendered.

[In the text below, I have proposed modifications to the language of these criteria to incorporate current knowledge about this disorder. My modifications appear in bold italics.]

Proposed Amended Criteria for the Narcissistic Personality Disorder

* Feels grandiose and self-important (e.g., exaggerates accomplishments, talents, skills, contacts, and personality traits to the point of lying, demands to be recognised as superior without commensurate achievements);

* Is obsessed with fantasies of unlimited success, fame, fearsome power or omnipotence, unequalled brilliance (the cerebral narcissist), bodily beauty or sexual performance (the somatic narcissist), or ideal, everlasting, all-conquering love or passion;

* Firmly convinced that he or she is unique and, being special, can only be understood by, should only be treated by, or associate with, other special or unique, or high-status people (or institutions);

* Requires excessive admiration, adulation, attention and affirmation – or, failing that, wishes to be feared and to be notorious (Narcissistic Supply);

* Feels entitled. Demands automatic and full compliance with his or her unreasonable expectations for special and favourable priority treatment;

* Is “interpersonally exploitative”, i.e., uses others to achieve his or her own ends;

* Devoid of empathy. Is unable or unwilling to identify with, acknowledge, or accept the feelings, needs, preferences, priorities, and choices of others;

* Constantly envious of others and seeks to hurt or destroy the objects of his or her frustration. Suffers from persecutory (paranoid) delusions as he or she believes that they feel the same about him or her and are likely to act similarly;

* Behaves arrogantly and haughtily. Feels superior, omnipotent, omniscient, invincible, immune, “above the law”, and omnipresent (magical thinking). Rages when frustrated, contradicted, or confronted by people he or she considers inferior to him or her and unworthy.

Prevalence and Age and Gender Features

According to the DSM IV-TR, between 2% and 16% of the population in clinical settings (between 0.5-1% of the general population) are diagnosed with Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD). Most narcissists (50-75%, according to the DSM-IV-TR) are men.

Remind you of anyone in particular?

Some famous pathological narcissists of our time: Adolph Hitler, Jim Jones, David Koresh, Joseph Stalin, Kim Jong Il, Saddam Husein, Charles Manson, Chairman Mao.

American Thinker today published this thought provoking article with the title: “What is going on here?” authored by MJ Motley It brings to mind a line from several episodes of the 1950′s I Love Lucy TV show. Lucy would always be in trouble and Ricky would always demand an explanation in his thick Cuban accent. Only this isn’t the least bit amusing:

Alright enough already! Will someone please turn the lights back on and roll the credits for this week’s episode of the Twilight Zone.

First we have the brazenly Orwellian directive from the Office of Health Reform/Ministry of Truth to contact our friendly snitchboard operator to report any “fishy” communications from our neighbors/political extremists. Then from Pamela Geller’s Atlas Shrugs I learn that the National Guard is now looking for a few good internment/resettlement specialists?

Really?

Internment of whom?

I’m moving where?

As if the seeming overnight bankruptcy of our entire country were not enough to rattle our nerves, we have the White House’s apparent confidence that it need not bother fretting over the appearance of totalitarianism. What is it that imbues these people to think that no-one will notice the unsettling parallels they have with unseemly dictators?

It is at about this point that I start trying to reassure myself that this can’t really be as terrifying as it sounds. Then I remember this little clip entailing what Obama’s former SDS friends had in mind for people like me. Many of whom, like Marilyn Katz & Andy Stern, are wandering the halls of the White House today.

Taken separately, the White House’s asking Americans to inform on each other, the apparent creation of a new Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) and the wild-eyed genocidal fantasies of 60′s radicals would probably be enough to disturb anyone. hen taken collectively it becomes the substance from which nightmares are derived.

Let’s re-cap shall we, One, there is now a White House sponsored, “community” driven blacklisting site. Two, we have a freshly created military specialty in our traditionally domestically-oriented National Guard that seems to be tailored towards gulag maintenance and operations. Three, the cherry on top of having subversive elements advising our Dear Leader who had frankly once proposed exactly these same Stalinesque measures including the slaughter of millions of their fellow countrymen!

Boiled down to nuts and bolts it looks something like this;

1) Locate, record and target.

2) Segregate, contain & re-educate.

3) Evaluate, assimilate or eliminate.

Throw in fantasy claims that Obama’s opponents carry swastikas, emanating from the mouth of the person next in line after Vice President Biden in presidential succession.

Fantastical as it seems, and it is. I cannot help but recall the old adage about ducks, so modified a bit, if it sounds like Marx, and acts like Mussolini, it is probably Obama.

Lotsa quacking going on!  Interestingly The privacy act of 1974 makes it illegal for the government to collect information on private citizens for exercising their first amendment rights.  In the video below Judge Andrew Napolitano argues that this the governments actions are unconstitutional.

Roll Call, “The Newspaper of Capitol Hill Since 1955″ Reports in an August 5th story by staffer Paul Singer: “House Orders Up Three Elite Jets”

Last year, lawmakers excoriated the CEOs of the Big Three automakers for traveling to Washington, D.C., by private jet to attend a hearing about a possible bailout of their companies.

But apparently Congress is not philosophically averse to private air travel: At the end of July, the House approved nearly $200 million for the Air Force to buy three elite Gulfstream jets for ferrying top government officials and Members of Congress.

Of course, government varmints are much more important than mere business varmints. This story makes me want ot pull out my wallet and pay some taxes!
