Grayson Compares GOP to Al Qaeda
Posted by: | CommentsAlan Grayson: Expecting Republicans to Govern Is Like Expecting al-Qaeda to Be Pilots
Democratic donors have given $2.6 million to Alan Grayson this cycle, and it is deeply satisfying to watch them waste their hard-earned dollars on a congressman who has absolutely no chance of retaining a seat in an R+2 district.
You cannot compare the opposing party to al-Qaeda and expect to retain your seat:
UCSD Student Needs a Refund on Her “Education”?
Posted by: | CommentsA student questioner at the University of California – San Diego on May 10 confronted guest speaker David Horowitz with a question so manifestly brilliant that the crowd stood stunned in awe-struck silence and Horowitz was left muttering “Jesus” under his breath. The student, who compared the Founding Fathers to Islamic terrorists because of their battlefield tactics and the Salem Witch Trials, left after Horowitz began to speculate on the origins of what he perceived as the woman’s abject stupidity.
Citizen Woody Allen Thinks We Should Let President Obama be a Dictator
Posted by: | CommentsThe Los Angeles Times reports that “Top political strategist Woody Allen thinks Obama would get much more done as dictator; No, really.”
The notorious and formerly funny movie director Woody Allen is apparently frustrated with the cumbersome operations of American democracy too.
The one-time-father-now-husband-of-his-daughter tells the Spanish-language magazine La Vanguardia that the United States’ Democratic Smoker-in-Chief could accomplish a whole lot more from his White House if he didn’t have so many disorderly, annoying people objecting, distracting and criticizing him all the time.
Such social messiness has been known to occur in functioning democracies, even cinematic ones, although less often on celebrity-strewn movie sets under the direction of a dictatorial director.
“It would be good…if (Obama) could be dictator for a few years because he could do a lot of good things quickly,” Allen is quoted as saying.
Allen is also said to have said:
I am pleased with Obama. I think he is brilliant. The Republican Party should get out of his way and stop trying to hurt him.

Things That Make You Want to Curse. 11-22-2009
Posted by: | CommentsThe Chicago Tribune reports on plans to create an historic site of Billy Carter’s gas station.
In the age of the $787 billion stimulus package, it is, perhaps, a modest question:
Should American taxpayers foot the bill to enshrine the gas station run by the late Billy Carter — the beer-swilling, wisecracking, self-professed redneck brother of the 39th president?
Located in tiny Plains, still the world’s most famous peanut town some 28 years after the Carter presidency, the station was transformed into a museum last year by a civic group that owns the property.
Its claim to historical significance came during Jimmy Carter’s 1976 presidential run, when reporters mobbed Plains and transformed the station into an unofficial headquarters.

Shhhhh! Don’t tell anybody! Poor Arlen
Posted by: | Commentshillbuzz.org reports:
“This is a fundraiser’s nightmare: the FEC has ruled that Club for Growth can indeed contact all of Arlen Specter’s donors since 2004, who gave him upwards of $11 million, to inform them they are all entitled to a refund of campaign donations now that Specter has switched parties and become a Democrat. Specter so far has been forced to return about $500,000 — but many people who gave to him don’t know they can ask for their money back now that he’s switched parties.”
