How long until the Progressives try this in the U.S.?

Employer told not to post advert for ‘reliable’ workers because it discriminates against ‘unreliable’ applicants

When it comes to hiring staff, there are plenty of legal pitfalls employers need to watch out for these days.

So recruitment agency boss Nicole Mamo was especially careful to ensure her advert for hospital workers did not offend on grounds of race, age or sexual orientation.

However, she hadn’t reckoned on discriminating against a wholly different section of the community – the completely useless.

When she ran the ad past a jobcentre, she was told she couldn’t ask for ‘reliable’ and ‘hard-working’ applicants because it could be offensive to unreliable people.

‘In my 15 years in recruitment I haven’t heard anything so ridiculous,’ Mrs Mamo said yesterday.

‘If the matter wasn’t so serious I would be laughing out loud.

Unfortunately it’s extremely alarming. I need people who are hardworking and reliable – and I am pleased to discriminate in that way. If they’re not then I really can’t use them. The reputation of my business is on the line.

‘Even the woman at the jobcentre agreed it was ridiculous but explained it was policy because they could get sued for being dicriminatory against unreliable people.

‘She told me they’d had lots of problems with people taking them to court for adverts stating something like “would suit school leaver”.’

Roseanne Barr: Palin is ‘Slave to Right-Wing Men,’ ‘Against All Other Women’

Friday’s Joy Behar Show on CNN Headline News showed a pre-recorded interview with Roseanne Barr in which Barr opined that, although Sarah Palin is “likable,” the “stuff she says is half nuts,” and she’s “half crazy and out of her mind.” Barr — who herself has a recent history of doing such bizarre things as appearing in Heeb magazine dressed as Adolf Hitler removing Jewish gingerbread cookies from an oven — went on to declare that Palin is “like a slave to these, you know, right-wing men. That’s like the only way a right-wing woman can make it.”

Barr soon added: “The only way a woman can make it in the right wing, or the conservative, whatever the hell you want to call it, Republican, is to be against all other women. And that is what she does.”

Ironically, just moments later as she and Behar expressed disapproval at the man who recently threw tomatoes at Palin, Barr was critical of liberals who have treated the former Alaska governor “badly because she’s female,” calling it “disgusting.” Barr: “I don’t like where she is treated like badly because she’s female. I think that’s so wrong, and I think the left and the liberals are disgusting to do that.”

Matthews Frets Over ‘Idiots’ in America ‘Riling’ Up ‘White Tribalism,’ Shows anti-Obama Protesters

On the Sunday, December 13, syndicated Chris Matthews Show, as he ended the show with words of praise for Morgan Freeman’s latest film, Invictus, and its depiction of Nelson Mandela uniting blacks and whites in South Africa in the 1990s, host Matthews referred to “white tribalism” having been stirred up in America, and showed clips of anti-Obama protesters.

Matthews: “In this world of ours today, it seems that any idiot – almost any idiot can rally the forces of tribalism, including white tribalism in this country. You can do it with a frown or a smile – easiest thing in the world to rile people back to their roots, get them thinking with all the rage of their grandparents.”

While one of the three clips of protesters did show someone holding a sign with an image of President Obama with the words “undocumented worker” on it — reminiscent of the fringe conspiracy theory that President Obama was not born in America — another clip showed protesters displaying generic anti-liberal and anti-socialism messages, while the third clip showed a sign with the words, “You lie!” invoking South Carolina Republican Congresssman Joe Wilson’s outburst from the last State of the Union Address.

Copenhagen climate summit: Tony Blair calls on world leaders to ‘get moving’

The world must take action on climate change at Copenhagen even if the science is not correct, Tony Blair, the former Prime Minister has suggested.

Jimmy Carter: Abuse of Women? Blame the Catholics and Southern Baptists

In an address to a gathering sponsored by the World Parliament of Religions (PWR) last Friday, former US President Jimmy Carter has once again blamed traditional religion, particularly Southern Baptists and Roman Catholics, for “creating an environment where violations against women are justified.”

It is a theme that Carter has successfully used to garner media attention for several years.

Although in a July column in The Observer Carter admits to “not having training in religion or theology,” in his address to the PWR Carter appeals to his authority as someone who has “taught Bible lessons for more than 65 years.”

In opposition to the vast majority of authentic scholars and historians, Carter asserted: “It’s clear that during the early Christian era women served as deacons, priests, bishops, apostles, teachers and prophets.” He added: “It wasn’t until the 4th century or the 3rd at the earliest that dominant Christian leaders, all men, twisted and distorted Holy Scriptures to perpetuate their ascendant position within the religious hierarchy.”

Contrary to the theorizing of Carter, Pope John Paul II taught, “The Lord Jesus chose men to form the college of the twelve apostles, and the apostles did the same when they chose collaborators to succeed them in their ministry.” He added: “the Church recognizes herself to be bound by this choice made by the Lord himself. For this reason the ordination of women is not possible.” (Catechism of the Catholic Church; 1577)

Carter singled out the Southern Baptist Convention and Roman Catholic Church, claiming that they “view that the Almighty considers women to be inferior to men.” However, both Christian faiths hold to the Scriptural truth that God created men and women equal.

Carter suggests that only in permitting women to become priests and pastors could male religious leaders choose to interpret teachings to exalt rather than subjugate women. “They have, for their own selfish ends, overwhelmingly chosen the latter, subjugation,” he said.

And the Forever Campaign Continues…..

President Barack Obama’s approval rating may be hovering in the 50 percent range, but that doesn’t mean America’s Commander-in-Chief isn’t catching on with new constituents.

There is now a line of Ecstasy pills made in the image of the 44th president of the United States, according to Texas police who have snatched a batch off the streets.

The Chicago Tribune reports on plans to create an historic site of Billy Carter’s gas station.

In the age of the $787 billion stimulus package, it is, perhaps, a modest question:

Should American taxpayers foot the bill to enshrine the gas station run by the late Billy Carter — the beer-swilling, wisecracking, self-professed redneck brother of the 39th president?

Located in tiny Plains, still the world’s most famous peanut town some 28 years after the Carter presidency, the station was transformed into a museum last year by a civic group that owns the property.

Its claim to historical significance came during Jimmy Carter’s 1976 presidential run, when reporters mobbed Plains and transformed the station into an unofficial headquarters.

Fox News reports that “former New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer will give a lecture Thursday afternoon at Harvard University’s ethics center, raising a few questions over what the disgraced, prostitute-visiting ex-official might have to say on the topic.

University officials say the address will stick to fiscal issues. Spitzer is speaking on the topic of conditions that lead to government intervention in the private economy and is not expected to deliver any kind of seminar on morality.

“The lecture series addresses the influences within various institutions that arguably weaken the effectiveness of an institution or the public trust of the institution,” Lawrence Lessig, director of the Edmond J. Safra Foundation Center for Ethics which invited Spitzer, said in a written statement. “He joins others in this series who each have different views about the subject.”

But the engagement drew an objection from the former madam whose escort service reportedly provided Spitzer with high-end hookers.

According to The New York Post, Kristin Davis, who reportedly supplied Spitzer repeatedly with an escort, wrote a protest letter to the Center for Ethics calling Spitzer a “man without ethics.”

“I am greatly intrigued as to what Mr. Spitzer could contribute to an ethical discussion when as Chief Executive Law Enforcement Officer of NY he broke numerous laws for which he has yet to be punished,” she wrote, according to the newspaper. “As Attorney General he went around arresting and making examples out of the same escort agencies he was frequenting.”

Though Spitzer’s talk is limited to the topic of government intervention, there will be a question-and-answer period, so there’s no guarantee the topic of ethics won’t come up.

“The topic is on the fiscal sector, but it’s an open Q-and-A,” Harvard spokesman Joe Wrinn said. There is considerable interest in the talk, as all of the university’s free tickets to the event have been snatched up.

The title of the lecture is: “From Ayn Rand to Ken Feinberg — How Quickly the Paradigm Shifts. What Should Be the Rationale for Government Participation in the Market?” The lecture is not a requirement for students, Wrinn said.

Since resigning in the wake of the prostitution scandal in early 2008, Spitzer has worked as an adjunct professor at City College of New York and at his father’s real estate firm.

After watching the following video, we propose an amendment requiring all U.S. senators to pass an I.Q. test with a score higher than a school zone speed limit.

Rep. Louise Slaughter (D-New York) on why she refuses to hold town meetings.

Please listen to this tape of Representative Diane E. Watson, from California’s 33 district, in her own words. If you can’t see what is wrong with this….we are all doomed. She praised Che Guevara and Fidel Castro.

We would like to remind the Congresswoman that the president, no matter his party, is NOT the United States. The people are the United States.
